Summary:
Leslie came to our office complaining about how unhappy she was about the way her teeth look when she smiles. She wanted her teeth to be proportional in shape and size and also to have a natural light color. However, her concern was that she didn’t want to drill away significant amounts of her teeth to create her desired look.

Evaluation:
Examination of her teeth revealed a few significant esthetic deficiencies. Specifically, those being slightly crooked and worn teeth; and most notably, severe discoloration with a dark banding present as a result of tetracycline staining.

What we did:
In order to determine the desired look for Leslie’s smile and to decide the right amount of teeth that needed to be treated, a computer simulation was first created. Due to the significant stained banding in Leslie’s teeth, bleaching her teeth was not very effective and in order to create a natural appearance, restorations needed to be placed as far back as her smile showed. The treatment of choice for Leslie, therefore, was to place conservative customized porcelain veneers on her upper front 10 teeth to the specifications of the computer simulation. Leslie chose porcelain veneers for her lower teeth to match her upper teeth at a subsequent visit.

Result:
A healthy and attractive smile was created while preserving the integrity of her original teeth, both important goals communicated by Leslie.
